Andrew primarily handles Business Immigration, assisting companies of all sizes in bringing over employees both temporarily and permanently. As timing is often a crucial component of business considerations, his experience with many solutions and nuanced variations is key in evaluating and presenting the options available, enabling companies to determine the best (usually fastest) fit for their situation.
H1B, L1, O1, are the core categories for employment authorization. Even beyond an in-depth and strong working familiarity with these, Andrew’s understanding of the transitions from F1 (CPT/OPT), to Permanent Residence and any start or stop in between allow the process to be properly planned. Other planning factors include appropriate utilization of visitor and trainee categories for transitions, as well as when to avoid these. An option today shouldn’t become a surprise down the road.
Andrew served six years on the State Bar of Texas Committee for Immigration, including two years as vice chair, involving significant interaction with the USCIS heads of the Texas Service Center and the San Antonio District Office. He spent 10 years as a member of the Houston AILA CBP Liaison committee. The involvements with these agencies provide great perspectives as to how they operate. He handles many company Blanket L’s and USCG Vessel Non-Applicability (Exemption) Applications. His experience with agency processes and managing complex projects gives a strong foundation for addressing all business immigration matters.
Andrew lives in Houston with his wife and three children. Has made many presentations for Foreign Students at Rice University and The University of Houston, where respectively he received his undergraduate and law degrees. Additionally he has made Continuing Legal Education presentations on immigration at TSU and for the National Conference for Vietnamese American Attorneys. Andrew is a great fan of all Houston sports teams, although much of this time has shifted to his children’s activities.
